National Shrine of Mary Immaculate Queen

THE QUEENSHIP OF MARY

On October 11, 1954, Pope Pius XII established the Feast of the Queenship of Mary to be celebrated throughout the world, and commanded that on that day each year, the world should renew its consecration to her. The feast is celebrated on August 22nd.

The purpose of the feast is that all may recognize more clearly and venerate more devoutly the merciful motherly sovereignty of her who bore God in her womb.--(Pius XII, Ad. Coeli Reginam)

On the day of her Assumption, Mary our Mother was solemnly crowned by Christ and received by the whole court of heaven as Queen.

What Christ has done in heaven and the Church has done on our behalf, we should now do individually. We should recognize Mary's Queenship, enthrone her in our homes, consecrate ourselves to her, and by this means, establish in our lives the reign of Mary Immaculate Queen of the Universe.

Prayer to St. Pius X

Glorious Pope of the Eucharist,
Saint Pius X, you sought "to restore all things in Christ."
Obtain for us a true love of Jesus, so that I may live only for Him.
Help us to acquire a lively fervor and a sincere will to strive for sanctity in life, and that we may avail for ourselves of the riches of the Holy Eucharist in sacrifice and sacrament. By your love of Mary, mother and queen of all, inflame my heart with tender devotion to her.

Blessed model of the priesthood, obtain for us holy, dedicated priests, and increase vocations to the religious life. Dispel confusion and hatred and anxiety, and incline our hearts to peace and concord, so that all nations will place themselves under the sweet reign of Christ. Amen.

Saint Pius X, Pray For Us

A Franciscan Chapel: Portiuncula Chapel of St. Francis of Assisi

A Franciscan Chapel: Portiuncula Chapel of St. Francis of Assisi from Gardenia Hung on Vimeo.

A replica of the Chapel of St. Francis at the Mayslake Peabody Estate, from the original structural design in Assisi, Italy. The Portiuncula Chapel of St. Francis of Assisi was built in 1926 at the Mayslake Peabody Estate in memory of Mr. Peabody, who founded the family estate in Oak Brook, Illinois. The Portiuncula Chapel of St. Francis of Assisi celebrates the induction of Francis of Assisi into a monastic life during the 13th century when St. Francis of Assisi became a friar to answer God's calling. During the 21st century, the Mayslake Peabody Estate is managed by the DuPage Forest Preserve District in Oak Brook, Illinois, U.S.A.
